June Hedgerow

This painting sums up what the Unseen Countryside collection is all about. With so much of our countryside reduced to expanses of monoculture with drastically reduced biodiversity, hedgerows provide a refuge for wildlife and allow native flowers and grasses to grow unhindered. Oxeye daisies are so evocative of summer and when I saw them framing a swathe of viper's bugloss I knew I'd found a perfect subject to show the beauty of a summer hedgerow!
